It was July 4, 2018, and Tracy Gray from Keachi got the phone call that no parent ever wants to receive.  Tracy's son, William Austin Gray, had been involved in a wreck and Tracy needed to get to the hospital immediately.

When Tracy arrived at the hospital, he was informed that his son Austin had died from the injuries he received in the accident.  But instead of falling victim to the loss of his son, Tracy is doing what he can to make the most of this terrible situation, and he's formed the Austin Gray Memorial Scholarship Fund.

See, Austin was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt but his real passion was bass fishing.  And in an effort to help raise money for the scholarship fund, in his honor, there will be a bass tournament on Lake Murvaul in Carthage, Texas on April 20.  Entry fee is $100 per 2-person team with an optional $25 big bass pot.

There's a guaranteed payout for first place winners of $800, $600 for second place winners, $400 for third place winners and $200 for fourth place winners.

Sign up for the tournament can be done in person starting at 2 p.m. on April 19 at the Lake Murvaul Pavilion, or by calling Sammy Peace at 903-754-3860.

In addition to the bass tournament, a fundraiser event will be held on April 19 at the Lake Murvaul Pavilion, which will include live music, pork sandwich meals starting at 6 p.m., a silent auction, a live auction and a ten gun raffle drawing. The ten gun raffle tickets can be purchased now, up until the drawing on April 19 by visiting Wings and Whitetails in Carthage TX. Some of the items up for the silent and live auctions include a bed and breakfast stay on Toledo Bend, a sapphire and diamond ring, baskets of prizes, customized fire pits and a homemade quilt among other prizes.
