Baton Rouge Woman Saves Injured Officer By Taking Down Suspect
A Baton Rouge woman is being said to have saved an injured officer after the officer was attacked during a traffic stop. The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Thomas Bennett, 28, of Albany, was arrested after he became violent and attacked the officer after he found drugs on his vehicle. The suspect was able to get the officer's baton and hit the officer in the head.
That's when the 56 year old Vickie Williams-Tillman jumped to the rescue jumping on the suspects back to stop the attack until other officers were able to respond to the scene. All 3 were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries including the officer bleeding from the mouth and the good samaritan having an injured wrist.
KSLA says Bennett will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Investigators reported he will be charged with aggravated battery, disarming a police officer, battery on a police officer, resisting an officer with violence, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
