They formed back in 1998 while attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, they’re now based in New Orleans, and they’re playing for us this Saturday in Bossier City, LA – It's Louisiana’s own, Better Than Ezra.

These guys cut their teeth playing frat parties and hole-in-the-wall clubs, which makes them hella good performers. Not only do I love their songwriting, but I also dig how well they work a crowd live, as evidenced in the video below... which features Shreveport’s own Tom Drummond.

Better Than Ezra have a cult-like following here in Louisiana and I’m proud to say I’m a fan. The band usually plays our area about once a year and if at all possible, I’m there. This year, they’re playing on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, inside Margaritaville’s Paradise Theater at 8 pm. When I checked for tickets online there were plenty still available starting at $41. Don’t let there being tickets still available make you think these guys aren’t any good because they are, it’s just a holiday weekend with Mudbug Madness, Red River Rumble, and a ton of other events going on, plus, a ton of people are out of town. My friends Kacey and Jennifer are both missing the party this Saturday because of commitments elsewhere :(

I will never forget the first time I heard Better Than Ezra. It was on 98.9 KTUX-FM, and it was the summer of 1996. I was a fresh graduate of Bowling Green State University living in a Highland duplex, and I was ready to make my mark on the world of radio. Good was a hit and you couldn’t deny its infectious charm. Since then, some of my favorites of theirs are Desperately Wanting, At the Stars, This Time of Year, King of New Orleans, shall I go on? If you go, I’ll see you there. I’m thinking I may bust out my old Doc Martens.
