"Saturday Night Live" castmember Bill Hader announced Tuesday that he won't be returning to the late-night comedy show next season.

“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Hader told the New York Times. "It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it’s just time to go.'"

Hader joined "SNL" in 2005 and is best known for such characters as Italian talk-show host Vinny Vedecci, elderly newsman Herb Welch and, of course, New York City club reviewer Stefon. He's also known for his impressions of Al Pacino, Vincent Price and James Carville.

Another departing castmember is "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers, who will take over as host of "Late Night" on NBC when Jimmy Fallon assumes hosting duties on the "Tonight" show in 2014.

His last show will be this Saturday with host Ben Affleck.
