Watch a ‘Black Panther’-Inspired Version of Jaden Smith’s “Icon” Video
The new film, Black Panther, has been the talk of the internet for what seems like months, and the buzz has reached a fever pitch now that the movie has been released in movie theaters nationwide. The good folks over at Nerdist decided to hop on the hype train by dropping a hilarious spoof of Jaden Smith's "Icon" video, incorporating the Black Panther character.
The new version plays out just like the original, but instead of Jaden posted up next to his Tesla near a cliff wearing rock-star attire, it is the king of Wakanda, Young King. They even flip Jaden's bars to fit Black Panther's modus operandi. "I am a protector, you're a menace/That's why I have to fight like an Avenger," Young King rhymes on the track. "Coming at the king I'll put you on a stretcher/I am here and I'm still flexing."
Nerdist are not the first people to spoof the popular song off Jaden's latest album, SYRE. Earlier this month, Jaden's father Will tried his hand at remaking the track in a hilarious remix in congratulations for the song reaching a huge milestone. "Congrats on 100,000,000 @Spotify streams, Jaden!" Will wrote in the caption for his new video. "@c.syresmith It is a Delicious Gift to a Parent to Admire his children. Keep Doin’ You!"
