One of our local Shreveport-Bossier City, LA area farmers markets has been named the best in Louisiana and has also received national recognition. Considering how many markets have popped up in our area, much less in the entire state, that's an incredible honor.

The organizers behind the Bossier City Farmers Market are proud as peacocks right now and they have every right to be... They've been voted the #1 Farmer's Market in Louisiana in the 15th annual America's Farmers Market Celebration™. They also placed 13th nationally!

The contest began in July, but we didn't find out about it until just a few weeks ago. We are super excited and grateful to have been voted #1 in Louisiana and 13th nationwide! The contest is a great way to highlight the important role farmers markets play in local communities and our nation. Participating in the celebration is a way for people to come together and support their communities, local food producers, and vendors. No farms, no food"

The Bossier City Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 9 am - 1 pm through November. The weekly event takes place in the south parking lot of Pierre Bossier Mall with over 65 local vendors, live music, food trucks, free parking, free admission, and it's even pet-friendly so I can bring my oversized lap dog with me. Some of my favorite stops include the produce stands, Geaux Meals by Gracie, who sells pans of pre-cooked entrees for easy, convenient meal prepping, the homemade dog treat booth, the booth with the street tacos, and there's another one that sells handmade wire jewelry with crystals. Yes, I'm a hippie at heart!
