In an open letter, Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington says he and his office will boycott Ford Motor company due to the automaker's stance on NFL players protesting during the national anthem.

In the letter, Whittington says he can not purchase vehicles from a company that has 'no regard for the men and women who protect and serve.' He also called on other law enforcement agencies and leaders to "take a stand against Ford Motor Co. and the disrespectful National Football League."

He acknowledges the fact that players have every right to peacefully protest, but says he and the tax payers have every right not to support a company that sides with those who disrespect the law and the country.

Due to the backlash, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to team owners this week telling them that he believes all players should stand for the National Anthem.
