Any baby born at 25 weeks has a 50 percent chance of survival. Evan and Kaiti had twins.

Her due date was in February 2016, but Bossier City's Evan and Kaiti McFarland found themselves at The Birth Place at CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier in October of 2015. At that point, Kaiti had reached 24 weeks of pregnancy, when doctors told her that her twins were coming. The staff immediately went to work in an effort to postpone the delivery.

They made it to 25 weeks before Wilder and Adeline made their debut.

The survival rate of a baby born that early is only 50 percent. Those odds decrease significantly in the event of twins. It was a trying 117 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), but at last in February, about a week apart, both babies made the trip home. When this video was shot, these two miracles were seven months old.

By now they have already celebrated their first birthday.

What an incredible miracle that these two babies are now healthy. Evan and Kaiti credit three things that made that possible; God, the staff at CHRISTUS, and Children's Miracle Network (CMN). Without the donations made to CMN, there wouldn't have been the appropriate equipment available to save their lives. Besides the resources available in the NICU, Kaiti gave birth in The Birth Place, another product of your donations.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a national organization that works on a local level. That means every penny that you donate in Shreveport-Bossier, stays in Shreveport-Bossier to help families like the McFarlands. Your donation funds 17 different programs at CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier that our families get to use for free; like the NICU, The Birth Place, the Teen Mom Program, School-Based Health Centers, and more.
