BPSO Targets Blight in Bossier with ‘Operation Clean Sweep’

In my humble opinion, poor upkeep can bring about the ruin of a city or neighborhood. Obviously, I'm not alone because just last week, Shreveport City Councilwoman Levette Fuller hosted a neighborhood clean-up effort in her district in the Highland neighborhood. After all, it's kind of hard to proud of where you live when it's basically a big dumpster. Conversely, it's been shown that crime will actually decrease in well-maintained areas. Cooincidence? I think not!

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office agrees and Sheriff Julian Whittington is asking members of the community to step up and 'Keep Bossier Beautiful' during 'Operation Clean Sweep' Saturday, April 17, 2021. Whether it's yourself, your Sunday school class from church, or a youth service group, it doesn't matter. Picking up unsightly trash and garbage is what it's all about. Yes, it's a spring spruce up for the entire parish. Residents who plan to participate are asked to register here. You can also sign up on the Keep Bossier Beautiful website. And don't worry, if you're out of town or already have plans, you can still help by donating here. 

The best part is you can drop off all the trash you collect and get a pat on the back at the Bossier Sheriff's substation on Viking Drive by 11:30 am that day using the large dumpster provided by Waste Connections, Inc. North Louisana. They'll also have hamburger and hot dog lunches on-site (after you wash up) and opportunities to take group photos with your fellow volunteers.
