It's a hard life, but someone has to take time out of their weekend to go play poker for charity. Luckily, lady luck was with me yesterday at the Horseshoe Casino Poker Room when I won the whole shooting match! Trust me, no one was more surprised than me!

You know how much my husband loves poker, and this is the second time I've made it further than him at this particular event. Not that anyone is counting. Either way, it was an enjoyable afternoon thanks to our gracious hosts at the Horseshoe who are always going above and beyond for the Shreveport/Bossier City community.

You're probably wondering, what did I get out of all of this? Well, I got a handshake from Ed Walsh and a few of the other Horseshoe bigwigs, a couple of mimosas, a nice brunch, the opportunity to hang with some great 'celebrities' in the SBC and I got to raise money for my charity!

Here's the thing: I should have been more confident. The final five players agreed to chop the pot with $1,000 of the $5,000 final pot going to each of our charities. Who knew I was going to win the whole thing?

I'm glad we split it though because the money is going to help our community and some amazing organizations with $2,000 going to the Philadelphia Center, $2,000 going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the remaining $1,000 going to an animal rescue in Natchitoches!

Thank you so much to the staff at the Horseshoe Casino for making it such a fun event and I can't wait to defend my bracelet at next year's World Series of Poker Charity event!
