Study Shows Which Parish Is Wealthier; Caddo or Bossier
I have a confession to make. I'm sure it was just because I grew up in the North Shreveport and Blanchard area in north Caddo Parish.
As I child growing up in the area, I thought that all the people in Bossier Parish must be poor. Someone had told me that all of Shreveport's sewerage water was dumped into Red River, and that all of Bossier's drinking water was pumped out of Red River, so Bossier citizens must be poor.
Okay, that was fifty years ago, but it doesn't negate that's what I was told and what I believed.
However, as the decades rolled by, and I watched as several incredibly lavish neighborhoods were established in Bossier parish, my thoughts of Bossier made a huge evolution.
But if the results of this recent study are true, when it comes to wealth, Caddo Parish is still the crowned jewel of the river cities. In fact, not only does Caddo top Bossier Parish in terms of wealth, it's one of the wealthiest parishes in all of Louisiana.
SmartAsset has released the findings of their study which measured the places in Louisiana with the greatest amount of per capita wealth based on the amount of investment income being generated, as well as the local per capita income and median home value.
