With many states seeing legalization of Cannabis we are now seeing a new trend with pet owners in dog treats. Now the treats do not contain THC so the animals are not "Getting High" they contain cannabidiol, better known as CBD, a chemical compound extracted from the marijuana plant... Aka Hemp Oil.

There has been very little research on the effects in dogs so not much is known about the longterm effects but owners who use the treats say that it has helped dogs with hyperactive behavior, anxiety and fear. Some veterinarians are even advising clients to use the treats.

Several pet stores have started to pick up the products and several large chain pet stores are in talks with carrying them. The FDA has not made any rulings as far as cannabis for animals as of now.

Experts say there's much to learn about the effects of Cannabis for humans and pets and being Illegal in Louisiana and Texas we advise you not to give cannabis to your animals!

Warning: It can be dangerous to give your dog marijuana. If your dog needs it for medical reasons, be sure to follow your vet’s protocol closely. As with any drug, giving your dog more than recommended, or giving it to your dog when it’s not necessary, is irresponsible.
