Corden is a British actor and comedian with a huge social media following on Twitter, with 4.35 million followers. He can be seen in the film "Begin Again", starring Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley, and will appear as The Baker in Disney's forthcoming big-screen musical "Into the Woods".

Some names that were earlier bandied about as possible Ferguson replacements included Neil Patrick Harris, Joel McHale and Aisha Tyler.

CBS has yet to comment on this story.
