Evidently, the Charmed sisters had a hidden power — time travel: The show's coming back as a '70s revival series.

According to Varietythe Aaron Spelling-produced fantasy — which originally ran from 1998 to 2006 — is set for a return to The CW, and Jane The Virgin creator Jennie Urman is set to write the script with Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin. The new Charmed, which has received a script order commitment, will take place in 1976, and these are the new character descriptions, via TV Line:

"Tina: African American. Whip-smart, Tina is one dissertation (and one dissertation advisor) away from a PhD. She can be reserved, even standoffish, in uncomfortable situations, but she picks up on
everything and she’s definitely making quick, accurate judgments about you.

Paige: Caucasian Cheerful, curvy, wholesome and as all-American as the apple pie she can’t wait to serve to the husband she has yet to marry. Paige’s main goal in life is to marry a rich doctor and be a wife and mother.

Annie: Caucasian. Intense, smart, and quick to anger. She dresses neutrally, though she could give two s–ts if you like her outfit, so stop wondering what “neutral” means. But under that tough façade, well… there is a fragility. A person desperate to be loved, and love."

The Charmed origin series starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Shannen Doherty (eventually replaced by Rose McGowan) as siblings who staved off evil spirits, each with a signature style of magic. Doherty's Prue had the power of telekinesis, Combs' Piper could freeze time, Milano's Phoebe was an oracle of sorts and McGowan's Paige could teleport objects.

Milano shared in fans' excitement for the show's return. Still, there were plenty of Charmed-devout who thought the original series should remain untouched. One noted "I'm so bothered by this news. Remaking charmed is like if someone decided to remake Buffy. I would rage so hard."
