Coachella 2014 Day 1 Performance Pics: See OutKast, Ellie Goulding + More
Coachella 2014 kicked off yesterday with an opening lineup worthy of the Coachella tradition. What started out as a protest against Ticketmaster's control of big venues has ironically become a yearly hot ticket item. The Coachella Music and Arts Festival, which has been held annually since 2001, is once again spread out this year over two weekends: Apr. 11 to 13 and then Apr. 18 - 20. The festival each year gathers music talent from all genres at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Over 150 acts will grace Coachella's stages this year including OutKast, Lorde, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Foster the People, Zedd, Calvin Harris and more. We've assembled concert pics of some of the bigger pop acts that took the stage on day one.
OutKast
The much talked about OutKast reunion was the most anticipated performance from opening night. The team of Big Boi and Andre 3000 had been on hiatus as a duo since 2007. However, in late 2013 the hip-hop stars announced that Coachella would serve as the first stop in more than 40 planned festival performances around the world in 2014.
Ellie Goulding
Ellie Goulding took the stage and delivered a rousing performance in a sexy two-piece Catwoman-like leather outfit.
Zedd
EDM superstar Zedd, who is behind recent hits 'Clarity' and 'Stay the Night' with Hayley Williams of Paramore, took the stage after midnight Pacific Time as the closing act.
Martin Garrix
Rising EDM DJ/producer Martin Garrix, who is celebrating his first Top 40 hit with 'Animals,' took the stage right before Zedd did and delivered a set of his own.
Aloe Blacc
Rising singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc riled the crowd up as one of the evening's first performers.
Neko Case
Singer-songwriter Neko Case took the stage before Ellie Goulding and performed tracks from her 2013 album titled 'The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You.'
HAIM
Indie rock band HAIM appeared on opening night and performed select tracks from their debut studio album, 'Days Are Gone.'
Bastille
Bastille, who had one of 2013's biggest hits with their single 'Pompeii,' performed on stage and showcased their unique style of British rock that made them one of last year's breakthrough acts.
