The Fourth of July Means Fireworks Will Lighting Up the Skies All Over the Ark-La-Tex.

One of the most thrilling experiences in Shreveport is hitting up a Fireworks stand and loading up on all of your favorite fireworks. There are several rules you need to follow if you plan on popping fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday.

These rules are set in place to protect you and keep you safe. We have all heard about a rogue firework going off. It is a scary thought. I remember growing up thinking that if I launched a firework my hair would catch on fire and I would lose a finger. My parents traumatized me with spooky 4th of July legendary tales.

There is a Lot of Confusion Surrounding Fireworks in Shreveport Due to Old Information on the City of Shreveport's Website.

According to the City of Shreveport website, fireworks, excluding bottle rockets and skyrockets, may be sold and discharged within the city limits during designated times of the year only. These times are 12 pm June 25th to 10 pm July 5th, except for the hours of 10 pm to 8 am. However, these are outdated rules.

According to the City Municipal Code Fireworks Sales for the July 4th Holiday are From July 1st Through July 5th.

The city of Shreveport's Municipal Code Says; "Dates and hours for sale, discharge, ignition or explosion of fireworks. (1) The sale, discharge, ignition or explosion of fireworks authorized for sale pursuant to R.S. 51:650 through R.S. 51:660 is prohibited in the city limits, except from noon June 16th through 10:00 p.m. June 20th, noon July 1st through 10:00 p.m. July 5th and noon December 15th through 10:00 p.m. January 1st of each year. The hours of discharge, ignition or explosion of lawful fireworks are restricted to those in subsection (2) of this section."
"(2) On the dates set forth in subsection (1) of this section, it shall be unlawful for any person to discharge, ignite or explode fireworks within the city limits between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.; provided, however, such activities shall not be unlawful on December 31 of each year between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. and on January 1st of each year between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m."
