Could Wal-Mart Take The Reigns Of The Independence Bowl?
Since December 26th, the Independence Bowl has been under scrutiny. This time under the microscope has revealed some glaring flaws. The latest SEC match-up of Vanderbilt and North Carolina State had a dismal attendance (28,995).
With Camping World pulling out as sponsor of Shreveport's Bowl Game due to a perceived lack of improvement in the fans experience, The IBowl is looking for a sponsor, and the Shreveport Times suggests that the crew from Bentonville take the reigns. Honestly, it's a fantastic idea! The percentage of people who love football and Wal-Mart is approximately infinity. While this theory is awesome, I'll hold off until I see the sign change.
There is quite a longstanding tradition with this game, and I'm hope that it will continue. There's talk of focusing on local teams and vastly upgrading the fan experience. Let's just hope that a new sponsor will inject life into it.
