Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban Will Retire Kobe Bryant’s Number 24
While we’re still mourning the sudden loss of NBA icon Kobe Bryant, on Sunday (January 26th) the Dallas Mavericks are honoring the fallen legend in a special way.
According to Bleacher Report, Cuban announced that the franchise will retire Bryant’s 24 in a tribute to the fallen Lakers legend.
Cuban said in a statement,
We are shocked and saddened by the devastating news of the passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna. Kobe was an ambassador for our game, a decorated legend and a global icon. Above all, he was a loving and dedicated father. Kobe's legacy transcends basketball, and our organization has decided that the number 24 will never again be worn by a Dallas Maverick.
Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter Gianna, John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Christina Mauser, Ara Zobayan, Sarah Chester, and Payton Chester were all victims in the fatal accident in Calabasa, California.
Our thoughts and prayers to all families and fans who were affected.
No date on when the ceremony will take place.
