Report: ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Starts Production in October
Even days away from The Defenders, we can’t help looking forward to new seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist. Daredevil in particular has been silent since Season 3’s announcement last summer, but may finally get going in time for Halloween.
A new report from MCU Exchange suggests that Daredevil Season 3 will officially begin production in late October, which more or less fits star Charlie Cox’s prior claim that filming on the character’s solo series would resume later this year. An October shoot could potentially take advantage of Halloween in New York City, but that’s pure speculation on our part.
What’s particularly interesting is that Iron Fist was previously said to start Season 2 in December, while a recent report from Deadline noted that Marvel added twenty-three new episodes to be shot in New York by 2017’s end (atop twenty-six for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage). Twenty-three episodes could be made to suggest that either Daredevil Season 3 or Iron Fist Season 2 will trim down to ten episodes (more likely the latter), though the language is somewhat unclear. Neither are likely to finish shooting their respective orders within 2017, so the missing three could just as easily spill over into 2018, or refer to a fiscal calendar.
It also remains to be seen how Netflix will distribute new seasons of the four series (Punisher is still slated for 2017), as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will presumably occupy the first 2018 slots, with Daredevil following in the second half of the year. That could place Iron Fist in 2019, unless Marvel aims to premiere new seasons of all four next year.
We’ll likely hear more of Daredevil Season 3 in the coming weeks, but what should we hope to see this time around?
