Acting

Lovato and her childhood best friend, Selena Gomez, began their acting careers on the children's television series "Barney & Friends." Her character's name was Angela. In 2006, she snagged a role on the show "Prison Break" and "Just Jordan" the following year.

In 2007, Lovato was picked up by Disney Channel. She played Charlotte Adams in a short series "As the Bell Rings." After auditioning, she was cast as the lead in both the television film "Camp Rock", in which she sang many songs, as well as the television show "Sonny with a Chance." The show premiered in 2009. That same year, Lovato co-starred in the Disney Channel film "Princess Protection Program" with bestie Gomez.

Lovato appeared as a guest star on "Grey's Anatomy" in 2010 on season six, right before "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" in which she reprised her role at Mitchie Torres. She provided the vocals for nine songs on the soundtrack.

Music

After starring in "Camp Rock", Lovato went on tour with the Jonas Brothers to promote her debut album Don't Forget, which was released in September 2008. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with singles like "Get Back" and "La La Land", as well as 10 songs that were co-written with the Jonas Brothers.

She has recently been confirmed for the third season of the show. Lovato is currently on tour promoting her self-titled album, Demi.

Personal Life

In October of 2010, Lovato withdrew from the Jonas brothers concert and entered a treatment facility for physical and emotional issues. Lovato opened up about her issues with being bullied as a child, so much so that she asked to be home schooled. She also admitted to self-medicating, bulimia and self-injury. Her honesty through the entire process has brought her healing.

Lovato briefly dated Joe Jonas, before dating "That 70's Show" star, Wilmer Valderrama. She was recently seen gushing over how "incredible" he is. Many are speculating the two will become engaged sometime this year.
