Disaster Food Stamps for Bossier, Caddo, and Webster Parishes
It was a rough February for many families in Northwest Louisiana. The winter storms caused panic and chaos and many families are still not fully recovered from the impact and damage that the unprecedented storms caused. Many of us have been left wondering, what now?
I lost a fridge full of groceries. I am talking in the $150 range. I am forever grateful that although it was a huge hit for me, I didn't have a family relying on me to put food on the table. It's just me and my dog. What about the families who lost income and really took a hit during the storms? What about the families that lost hundreds of dollars worth of groceries?
According to KTBS 3 much-needed help is on the way for 23 Louisiana parishes "severely impacted by February’s winter storms". The good news is that Bossier, Caddo, Webster, and Red River parishes all qualify to apply for disaster food stamps. The application period kicks off on Monday, April 12th.
If you think you and your family can't apply because you don't regularly receive assistance, think again. The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will help out residents who had to deal with home or business repairs, families that were forced to relocate, families that had to seek temporary shelter, basically, if the storms made you come out of pocket with any expenses, you can qualify for help.
If you and your family can use some help, you have until April 17th to apply. Keep in mind applications will follow an alphabet schedule following last names.
