Don’t Call it a Comeback: Mudbugs Sweep Wichita Falls
What a weekend in Shreveport!
The Bugs are certainly back in town and they are clicking on all cylinders these days. The Bugs welcomed the Wichita Falls Warriors to Shreveport for the first time, and they did not go easy on the NAHL's newest team.
Friday night's game was slight work for the Bugs, winning 3-1 in front of a rowdy crowd. Saturday night's game, however, turned into quite the nailbiter.
Neither team scored in the first period, but the Mudbugs game out in the second period on fire, scoring three goals threatening to run away with the game right then and there. The Warriors, however, decided to make it a game in the third period.
Within four minutes of the third period, the Warriors scored three goals to tie things up in George's Pond. In true Mudbugs fashion, they didn't wait long to take control of the game again, scoring two unanswered goals to make it 5-3 with only minutes left to play. The Warriors scored again to make this one extra nerve-wracking, but the Bugs held them off to get the win in regulation, winning 5-4.
The Mudbugs are beyond impressive this season, with a current record of 12-2-2.
Now they focus on this upcoming week and weekend, where the team is set to play four home games in five days.
