Drew Brees Tears Up Talking About Steve Gleason

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees got emotional while speaking at Steve Gleason's Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony.

Gleason is a former New Orleans Saints special team stand-out player.   On September 25, 2006, he was responsible for one of the most dramatic moments in Saints history when he blocked a punt by Atlanta Falcons punter Michael Koenen early in the first quarter of a game at the Superdome.

That play brought back hope to a city that was decimated by Hurricane Katrina a year before. And it eventually lead the Saints to their most successful season in team history up to that date.

In 2011, Gleason was diagnosed with ALS.  Steve and his wife run a foundation that raises money to help people with ALS.

According to Sports Illustrated:

Team Gleason has provided almost $10 million in adventure, technology, equipment and care services to over 15,000 people living with ALS and countless others through advocacy, support and and ultimately bringing an end to the disease.

For his contributions to combat this disease, Gleason is being honored by the US government with a Congressional Gold Medal.
