Yesterday, the New Orleans Saints won their sixth game in a row but it came at a cost as Drew Brees left the game at halftime and didn't return to play in the second half.

Instead, he was replaced by former Tampa Bay quarterback Jamies Winston and Taysom Hill, both playing the position in the second half. The Saints won the game 27-13 to improve to 7-2 on the season, but all eyes and concerns were focused on the status of the injury to Drew Brees.

You could see Brees right after halftime on the sidelines, telling Sean Payton something and pointing at his ribs. That's when the decision was made that Brees would not return to the game.

Drew Brees suffered the injury in the second quarter of the game when San Francisco's defensive tackle, Kentavius Streret, put a big hit on Brees, sacking the QB and bringing him to the ground with all his weight. After the play, you could see Brees was in pain because it took him a little bit to get up off the turf.

Last night after the game, Brees addressed the media and said he doesn't know if he will be able to play next week. Head Coach Sean Payton said Brees will have an MRI and x-rays Monday to see the extent of the injury.

The Saints are slated to take on the Atlanta Falcons in the Big Easy this Sunday in a huge NFC South divisional match-up. If Brees can't play, Winston will most likely be named the starter for the game.
