Police in Shreveport are currently investigating an armed robbery that took place after midnight early May 6th. The call came in to Shreveport police around 12:30a.m. to the Circle K on the corner of Bert Kouns and Youree Drive.

According to reports, a man wearing a denim jacket and a black mask pointed a gun at the cashiers and demanded cash. The man then took an unknown amount of money, and drove away in a white vehicle with dark window tint.

This is one incident in a long string of gun crime this week. 6 people have been shot in Shreveport this week alone. One of the shootings took place an nearly an hour before the Shreveport Crime Coalition press conference on May 5th. Fighting crime in Shreveport is an uphill battle that seems to get more steep by the day.

Sheriff Steve Prator said on Robert & Erin that politicians have a tendancy of getting in the way of fighting crime: "The state legislature passes things like Justice Reinvestment and then moves on to something else. Justice Reinvestment has hurt us. Crime was supposed to come down...but tell me if crime's gone down. They need to be looking at violent crime again, but they're not."
