Elderly Louisiana Man Guilty of Shooting Neighbor For Loud Music
They say good fences make great neighbors, but sometimes that isn't enough. The phrase obviously means that neighbors that don't intrude into your space are the best kind of folks to live next to. A lot of people don't realize that once your music reaches an obscene volume - you are encroaching into your neighbors space, and some neighbors aren't cool with that.
All of that being said, what Thomas Kennedy did was more than an over-reaction. In fact, a Lafourche Parish jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilty on the 2nd degree attempted murder over the issue he had with his neighbor.
According to Fox 8 Live, Kennedy was fed up with the loud music emanating from the house next to him. That's when he walked next door and knocked. When his neighbor opened the door, Kennedy pulled out his .45 caliber Judge revolver and stuck it in his neighbor's mouth. That's when the gun went off.
Miraculously, the victim survived and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Kennedy walked back to his house and called the police. He claims that he did not mean for the gun to go off, but that did not convince the jury.
He is currently in custody, as the judge revoked his bond. The hearing to determine his sentence will be held on June 16th, he faces up to 50 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
