Eminem’s “Killshot” Earns Biggest Hip-Hop Song Debut in YouTube History
Eminem's Machine Gun Kelly diss "Killshot" became one of the most talked about songs on social media when it released on Sept. 14 but the track also broke a YouTube record, earning the largest debut for a hip-hop record in the site's history.
The official upload for "Killshot" on the website earned 38.1 million views in its first 24 hours of release. According to YouTube, the track also had the third highest debut of any song in YouTube history and now has over 72 million views.
On Twitter, 50 Cent celebrated Eminem's latest feat and joked that the Detroit rapper has handed everyone a loss. "Man do you see this shit,Think about it the Biggest hip hop song on youtube now everybody gotta take a L because of MGKwhat the fuck, we didn’t have anything to do with this shit Damn , how many times ya’ll was playing that shit. LOL get the strap @Eminem," 50 tweeted.
Shady's "Killshot" serves as the highly-anticipated response to MGK's "Rap Devil" diss. In the record, Em calls the Cleveland rapper a stan and his son, rapping, "Stan, stan, son, listen, man, dad isn't mad/But how you gonna name yourself after a damn gun and have a man bun?"
While the track has now become one of Eminem's biggest songs, the rapper says he was initially hesitant to respond MGK, fearing he would make him more popular. "I wanna destroy him, but I also don't wanna make him bigger," Em told Sway Calloway. "Because now you're a fucking enemy."
