Did Your Favorite Shreveport Deli Just Close? Here’s the Real Story
Did you know that Shreveport's oldest family-owned restaurant is still serving up delicious sandwiches?
Fertitta's Delicatessen has been in the same family for over three generations, keeping our community fed since its opening in 1927. They take massive pride in their famous creations; you can only find The World Famous Muffy® Sandwich and Papa Fertitta's Olive Mix right here.
Recently, the sweet owner, Agatha Fertitta McCall, took to social media with an announcement that had locals holding their breath.
Don't Panic: Fertitta’s is NOT Closing!
The good news is official: Fertitta’s is NOT closing!
After 45 dedicated years of carrying on the family tradition, Agatha is adjusting the schedule so she can slow down just a bit to enjoy life, spend time with her grandchildren, and take the occasional trip. As she shared, this decision, made with her son Patrick, was simply the right transition for this season of her life.
The most important thing to know is that Fertitta's will absolutely continue to be family-run, serving the Muffys®️ and all the other food you love.
The New Hours: When to Get Your Muffy®
If you need your fix of Shreveport's most iconic sandwich, make sure you mark these new days and times down. The new schedule officially begins on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025.
Wednesday through Friday: 10:30 AM to 1:45 PM
Closed: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Weekends
Agatha’s gratitude for the community is immense, and locals have already flooded social media to promise their continued support. The heart of Fertitta’s is staying right here in Shreveport!
