Firefighters were called to the 3100 block of West College in the Queensborough Neighborhood early today to put out a house fire.

Units arrived on the scene just after 5:30am and found smoke coming from the eaves of the one story wood-framed home.

Firefighters gained access to the home and discovered a fire in the attic area of the home.  The fire was contained to the attic which sustained both smoke and heat damage.

Other parts of the h9ome had some minor water damage.   Power to the home had to be disconnected due to the fire.  The American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family of 3.

A mother and her 2 children were in the home when the fire was discovered and they escaped uninjured prior to the fire departments arrival. The situation was placed under control at 5:56 a.m. It took 8 – fire units and 21 – firefighters to handle the situation.

No one was hurt and the cause of the fire is under investigations by Shreveport Fire investigators.  The home had two working smoke detectors in it at the time of the fire.
