Grant Gustin Denies Bashing Movie 'Flash' Ezra Miller Online

DC stars of The CW have often found themselves walking thin lines against the cinematic Justice League’s decision to reboot continuity with different actors, as Stephen Amell has defended multiple comments on taking Arrow to the big screen, or DC announcing Ezra Miller’s Flash within days of The CW premiere. Now, Grant Gustin himself is in the hot seat, defending accusations of decrying Miller’s Barry Allen.

While we’ve known for some time that Perks of Being a Wallflower star Miller would suit up as The Flash for the inevitable Justice League, his own movie, and potentially even Batman v. Superman, the recent CW special put Miller in the spotlight to discuss the character, apparently incensing certain fans of Grant Gustin’s Flash in the process. Gustin himself even “liked” a few tweets of support, several wishing the CW star was the one going toe to toe with DC’s mightiest on the big-screen.

Being the internet and all, the actor’s social media actions were soon twisted into percieved slams against Miller, for which Gustin begrudgingly posted a lengthy explanation to put out the so-called fire:

OK you guys. I hate having to explain myself, I don’t think it’s necessary most of the time. Especially on the Internet. I’m going to here because there are too many people that are saying things about me that aren’t true.
I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC. I’ve never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor.
Would I have liked to play Barry Allen in a film? Sure. I love this character and it has changed my life and making movies and tv is something I hope to be fortunate enough to do for the rest of my life.
I “liked” some tweets from fans that expressed their support of me and said they would’ve enjoyed seeing me in the movie. Nothing of anyone “bashing” Ezra. I don’t condone that type of behavior(especially on the Internet) and I definitely don’t partake.
I can’t wait to see all of the DC movies that are slated for the upcoming years. I am a fan and it will be awesome.
Embarrassed that I had to do this but those are my honest thoughts. Everyone chill and be nice.

Obviously, Gustin’s words won’t necessarily soothe fans of the CW characters hoping to see their Arrow or Flash on the big screens, but rather assure audiences that all DC actors remain united under one roof, even if they stay in different wings.

In the meantime, The CW Flash has plenty weirdness of his own for us to enjoy.
