Flynt Stone Battling Cancer
I can't think of a time in my radio career when I didn't know Flynt Stone. He's been a feature of the Shreveport/Bossier community for years. His sense of humor and zest for life has long made him one of my favorite people. He hasn't worked in the Townsquare Media building in years, but he is still close to our hearts and a part of our radio 'family' here at what has formerly been called The Radio Mall, Clear Channel, Gap Broadcasting and now Townsquare Media. See, it's the people, and not the name you go by, that make up the heart of a radio family. Between work events, concerts and what not, we all end up spending a lot of time with each other. Sometimes, more with our work family, than with our own families. With that being said, Flynt is battling cancer. It's hard to even contemplate. He's always been rushing off to do something... from frisbee golf, to pretty much any kind of out door activity or sport you can think of, to seeing a band or just being a good Dad. Flynt is a good guy and he needs your help. Over the years, he has raised money and donated time to various causes through out the SBC. It's time to give back.
Stu, from our sister station 99X, spoke to Flynt's daughter yesterday and they need your help. This is what he had to say:
Lifelong rocker and at one time, Program Director for 99X, Flynt Stone has been battling cancer which has now progressed to Stage IV where it has metastasized to his bones. We would like to extend our support to Flynt and his family during his time of need.
Flynt has been on the airwaves in Shreveport/Bossier for 25+ years, but sadly now can no longer even speak. He is bed ridden and spends all his time at home with his daughter in charge of his care. She reached out to us and would like some comfort items to assist with their day to day living.
What we here at 99X would like to do is support him and his daughter (who takes care of him right now day in and day out) by giving him a donation. 100% of these donations will go to Flynt and his family and will be mainly used to pay their living expenses while his daughter seeks to find a home health nurse to assist her in his care. So if you can, cough up a few bucks and pitch in to assist a brother in need by clicking the donate button below.
If online donations aren't your thing, there will be a fundraiser for Flynt Stone at Coyote's Bar and Grill this Friday the 13th from 6pm-9pm.
