Louisiana resident and Knights of the Ku Klux Klan member David Duke has gotten himself into some hot water. Again. The former Grand Wizard of the Klan, who is also a convicted felon, has been permanently banned by the social network Twitter. According to the Associated Press, Twitter released a statement today saying Duke's account “has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of the Twitter rules on hateful conduct.”

Duke, an infamous white supremacist, was leader of the Klan from 1974-1978, and was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 81st District, and served from 1989-1992. He also came very close to getting elected Governor of Louisiana in 1991, when he ran against Edwin Edwards.  He is also famous for being a Holocaust denier, and was convicted of felony tax and mail fraud in 2002. Duke defrauded his political supporters out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, and used the money for gambling and personal investments. He served 15 months at a federal penitentiary in Big Spring, Texas, and was fined $10,000.

Twitter has not spoken out about which posts made by Duke on their platform caused them to shut him down. They recently ramped up their policies on hateful conduct, which they say "promotes violence or threatening attacks against people based on religious affiliation, race and ethnic origin."

Earlier this week Duke was also banned by YouTube for his white supremacist content and hate speeches.
