Geek’d Con’s Stacked Roster of Voice Actors
With Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, almost around the corner, I was taking a second look at their lineup when I was hit with the realization of how huge their lineup is for this year, especially when it comes to voice actors. Geek'd Con has always brought huge guests but this year's voice-over talent lineup looks to be one of its best.
Steve Downes
Steve Downes started as a Radio DJ in 1978, beginning his career in commercial voice acting in the early 90s. In 1999 Downes worked on a video game for Valkyrie Studios where Downes caught the attention of Martin O'Donnell, a sound designer who'd later help Bungie look for voice talent in their upcoming video game Halo: Combat Evolved. O'Donnell brought Downes in for the job and ever since Steve Downes has been the voice of the iconic 7-foot tall cyborg super-solder, The Master Chief. Since the game's release the Master Chief became an iconic mascot for the Xbox game consoles, making Steve Downes the voice of one of the most recognizable video game characters from the last two decades.
Tony Todd
Tony Todd has been an iconic actor in many horror movies but he also has some voice acting roles under his belt that might surprise you. Todd was the voice of Venom in the Insomniac-developed game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the voice of The Fallen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Zoom in The CW's The Flash.
Bret Iwan
Since 2009 Bret Iwan has been Disney's official voice for the iconic Mickey Mouse. While he isn't the original Mickey Mouse he does fill the massive yellow shoes quite well. Some of his appearances as Mickey include the following, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Have a Laugh!, Minnie's Bow-Toons, Mickey Mouse Funhouse, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Mickey Mouse Mixed-Up Adventures, Kingdom Hearts III, Epic Mickey, and many more.
Efren Ramirez
Well, the man behind the role of Pedro Sanchez in Napoleon Dynamite not be the first person who pops to mind in a list of voice actors, but Ramirez has a handful of voice-acting appearances in the bag. Ramirez had a few roles on animated television shows like MadTV, American Dad!, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Napoleon Dynamite (the animated series), and most recently Disney's Lightyear.
Josh Martin
A repeat guest at Geek'd Con, Josh Martin is from Haughton, Louisiana! Martin has been the English dub voice actor for many great animes but is best known as the voice of Majin Buu in Dragon Ball, in both the shows and video games. Martin has also had roles in My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan. Possibly more iconic than his voice work, he was in Barney & Friends as Barney... yes... the big purple and friendly dinosaur.
John Swasey
John Swasey has been the English voice actor for the villainous All For One in the legendary My Hero Academia. Possibly just as villainous as All For One Swasey was also the voice of Gendo Ikari in the Rebuild of Evangelion series of Neon Genesis Evangelion movies. His other works include Sir Crocodile in One Piece, Lord Death in Soul Eater, and Van Hohenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Lindsay Seidel
Lindsay Seidel has been the voice of Nejire Hado of The Big 3 in My Hero Academia, both in the English dub and the video games. Possibly more iconic than that she is the voice of Pochita in Chainsaw Man. Her other works include Gabi Braun in Attack on Titan, Ichika Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets, Sorano Agria in Fairy Tail, Maya Fey in Ace Attorney (the animated series), and many more roles.
Katelyn Barr
Another iconic My Hero Academia voice, Katelyn has been the voice of Ryuoko Tatsuma as well as Himeno in Chainsaw Man, Baby 5 in One Piece, and Nikki Hanada in Dr. Stone. Katelyn has also done voice acting work for video games like Borderlands and has even worked as a writer for the One Piece franchise.
Cris George
Yet another iconic My Hero Academia voice talent is Cris George, who's given his voice to Gigantomachia, Rikido Sato, and Death Arms. Outside of My Hero Academia Cris has given his voice to Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Super, Black Clover, and Fairy Tail. Cris has also earned credits working behind the scenes on projects like Shin Godzilla and Black Clover.
