With river levels rising and more rain in the forecast, Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency for several parishes including Caddo and Bossier. The National Weather Service predicts the Red River in Shreveport will crest today at 31 feet, which is just below the 'moderate flood level' of  31.5 feet.

However, with heavy rain storms expected today and tomorrow, the Red could rise to dangerous levels. State Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says that with the river rising to flood levels, residents and especially farm owners in our area should prepare for potential flooding. Caddo Sheriff's Deputies have already had to rescue cattle in the Twelve Mile Bayou Area.

Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler said during the City Council work session on Monday that the City is monitoring the rising river levels and is coordinating with local Homeland Security Director and Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator to keep citizens safe.
