What Does Greg Tarver Say Is Biggest Problem in Shreveport?

Shreveport State Senator Greg Tarver has made it official. He is running for Mayor of the city this year. Tarver says "Shreveport is sinking faster than the Titanic and we have to do something about it."

Tarver says he will work hard to bring everyone together, black and white and democrats and republicans. He says we have to stop thinking about our people in these defined groups. He says we all must come together to save our city.

Tarver says "I have been here all of my life and we have got to work together as one."

He also says we must do something about crime. Shreveport has a tremendous crime problem. Tarver says we hear shootings every night in neighborhoods across the city. He says people are leaving Shreveport and we must take action. Something must be done about it. No industry will come to Shreveport. Tarver says if he is elected he will bring in an expert to help deal with the crime situation. He added: "You can't keep doing the same old thing and expect different results."

Tarver also said we can not continue to let a small percentage of the population terrorize our city and drive our people away.

Tarver also talked about economic development.

As to Tarver's residency issues, he says he is living with his daughter in Shreveport and paying her rent. He says his wife owns a home on the north side of Cross Lake which is not in the city limits. But he says he plans to downsize and build a new home in the city of Shreveport.
