Haughton Placed on Water Boil Advisory After Pipe Damaged

Haughton residents are under a water boil advisory from Bossier Parish due to the possible contamination of the town's water system. Officials in the Parish ordered the advisory after a lawn mower struck a hydrant on Chandler Road, which may have let undesired debris into the water supply.

Haughton residents must be aware of the steps needed to keep their water safe.

Why Haughton is Under a Water Advisory

According to the Bossier Parish Police Jury, late in the evening of Monday, June 2nd, 2025, a lawn mower accidentally hit, damaged, and exposed the Haughton Villate Water System to unwanted contamination. While the line has been fully repaired, the possible debris that entered the system could be dangerous if consumed. That danger is exactly why the town of Haughton and its residents are under a water boil advisory.

The advisory has been placed across the whole of Haughton and doesn't have a set expiration date, instead waiting for the word of approval from Bossier Parish to lift the advisory.

Water Boil Warnings For Haughton

For the time being, Haughton residents are asked to use bottled water if possible for things like food preparation, brushing teeth, drinking, etc. Bossier Parish recommends that if bottled water isn't easily available, boiling contaminated tap water for a full minute will kill any illness-causing pathogens. A tap water filter is not a guaranteed way to decontaminate your water, Bossier Parish still recommends boiling even filtered tap water.

Water samples from Haughton are being collected and sent to the Louisiana Department of Health for testing, and once test results are available, the Parish will lift the advisory.
