How Will Shreveport React To President’s Door to Door COVID Plan?
Let's call it...the United States Vaxx Force!
That seems to be an appropriate name for the group of yet-to-be-hired federal employees that, according to both President Joe Biden and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, will soon be going door to door, across the country, touting the COVID vaccines to America's uninoculated.
In fact, here's what the President said earlier this week: "Now we need to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and often times door by door - literally knocking on doors to get help to the remaining people."
But how will many Americans - wary by nature of any government intrusion - react to a federal employee at their door, asking about their medical history?
Plus, how many Americans does Biden and his advisors think there are who don't know about the vaccine or how to get it?
KEEL listeners responded to that question Thursday morning, with the overwhelming majority voicing strong objections (and rejection) of the Biden plan.
"The door to door idea is ridiculous. I haven't gotten the vaccine because I don't want it. And the only thing I want less is someone from government on my property."
"Here's my plan: Do the same thing I do with the IRS. Lie."
"I have no problem at all with the plan. We all need to do our part to protect our families and neighbors"
"This is about the government sending people door-to-door to see if we’re vaccinated: Wouldn’t they be a potential super-spreader if they do open the door and someone does have COVID? Then after they talk to them, they go to a neighbors house and give it to them and then the neighbor next and the next, day after day! Super-spreader!"
"Please, please! Send Joe Biden to knock on my door he will walk-in but he gonna limp out...hahahahaha!"
"I'm listening to these messages with disbelief! They want Americans to be vaccinated so we can get back to our living our pre-COVID lives! What's wrong with people?"
"They say, 'I’m from the government and I’m here to help... keep you healthy, safe, etc.' The only problem is they do it by removing our freedoms and personal responsibility. From seatbelts, to smoking, vaccines and on and on. If I want to protect myself I will. Their only job should be assuring the public is educated so we can make wise decisions."
"If they aske me if I've been vaccinated, I'll ask them if they have an STD. Has anybody ever heard of HIPPA laws?"
According to the latest government statistics, almost 2 million doses of the COVID vaccines have been given to Louisianans. But this accounts for only 35% of folks across the state have been fully vaccinated, ranking 32nd among all states.
