The world is coming to the rescue of thousands of residents of the Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Dorian. The island was hit by the Category 5 hurricane on Sunday. The storm stalled over the island for two days.

Nonprofit agencies are rushing in to help with emergency needs and humanitarian efforts.

Several organizations are working in the Bahamas:

The Red Cross has hundreds of volunteers in the region supplying shelter, food, water, medicine and communications. These are the biggest needs right now and the best way to get these items into the region quickly is to make a monetary donation to the Red Cross the the Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund.

Here is a list of charities working in the Bahamas.
