I've been patiently waiting. And waiting is the hardest part.

A little while back, I wrote about not receiving my 2nd Economic Impact Payment and what I was going to have to do to FIND IT.

You could call the IRS but we all know that would be for naught.

So you go online, you do the whole Get My Payment to check on the status of your payment, and then you wait.

I think I had a change of address issue. I had moved over the summer and when I tried to log in, I had to enter my old address. My direct deposit info hadn't changed.  After some digging, I find out that I might have to do a Payment trace.

You'll need to request a Payment Trace if the Get My Payment portal shows that your payment was issued, but you haven't received it within these timeframes:

6 weeks since it was mailed and you have a forwarding address on file with the local post office(CNET)

Payment trace, wait an additional 6 weeks, got it.

So as we are now approaching that day for me to begin the search again AND perform this so called trace:

The IRS and Treasury have issued all first and second Economic Impact Payments.

If you didn’t get any Economic Impact Payments or got less than the full amounts, you may qualify for the Recovery Rebate Credit and must file a 2020 tax return to claim the credit even if you don’t normally file. (IRS)

Wait, what now? All checks are out. And if you didn't get yours, YOU MAY QUALIFY for a REBATE CREDIT once you FILE YOUR 2020 TAX RETURN?

So now file your taxes and if you owe something, we'll just take it out of the money we were supposed to be sending you to help you?

And if we owe you money, you can be sure we'll get it to you THIS TIME.

And in the middle of me and my address changing woes, there is talk of a 3rd payment?

I'm glad I sent in the change of address form.

And I guess I should file my taxes ASAP to update my information.

I just have one question.

Stewie, you wanna help me out here?
