Iraq War Veteran Arrested In Fort Lauderdale Airport Shooting
An Army veteran who told FBI officials back in November that the United States government was using mind control on him has been arrested today in the shooting at Fort Lauderdale killing 5 people and putting at least 8 others in the hospital. After arriving he pulled out a gun in baggage claim and began firing on the crowds of people around.
26-year-old Esteban Santiago of Anchorage, Alaska has been identified as the shooter who served in the National Guard in Iraq. Esteban arrived in Fort Lauderdale from Alaska with only one item checked which was his gun. Officials say after landing he claimed his gun then went to the bathroom where he loaded his gun and started shooting.
It is legal for airline passengers to travel with guns and ammunition as long as the firearms are put in a checked bag - not a carry-on - and are unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container. Guns must be declared to the airline at check-in.
