Is Starbucks’ ‘Medicine Ball’ the Cure to Your Cold? [OPINION]
It's been called many things, but people swear by this tea this time of year.
Keep washing those hands and covering your mouth when you cough, people because we are not out of cold and flu season yet. As long as Old Man Winter wants to rear his ugly head (which is for another few weeks), we are still in the germ-filled weeds. That being said, I've heard a lot about this tea that supposedly is a secret weapon against these common illnesses.
It's Starbucks' Honey Citrus Mint Tea.
You've probably heard it referred to as "sick tea" or the "medicine ball." No matter how you order it, it's the same combination. Starbucks' website describes it as hot "Jade Citrus Green Tea, Peach Tranquility Herbal Tea, hot water, steamed lemonade and a touch of honey." There's so much going on in one cup that it may be hard to believe that it is the creation of a customer.
Yep, a commoner like us created this brew.
Word began to spread about this drink. I have friends in real life and on social media that swear by it during cold and flu season. Even Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY says it's the ultimate cold crusher. While I don't believe that this concoction contains magical or mystical properties, I do believe that drinking herbal tea, hot liquids, and honey while you're sick makes all the difference. Besides, that flavor combination sounds divine!
Have you tried this drink? Do you swear by it during the winter?
