Amir Khan to Follow Will Wade from McNeese to LSU

Lake Charles, Louisiana - The "Aura" is leaving. McNeese Basketball's student manager, Amir Khan, went viral a few years ago with his walk-out videos that led the McNeese Basketball team out of the locker rooms before every game. With Will Wade heading back to LSU, it seems as if Khan is set to follow Wade to Baton Rouge.

Amir Khan's Rise To Fame

McNeese Student Manager Amir Khan captured the hearts of college basketball fans all across the country after McNeese creative specialist Phillip Mitchell posted a video to Social Media of Khan and the Cowboys singing and jamming out to "In and Out" by Lud Foe before the Cowboys took to the floor in a game during the 2025 season.

Fans lined up to take pictures with him, and he signed more than 20 Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals worth more than six figures combined. He also landed partnerships with companies like Buffalo Wild Wings, Tick Pick, Insomnia Cookies, Turbo Tax, and others, and gained nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram.

Amir spent time with Wade at N.C. State before making his way back to McNeese for the 2025-26 season. Khan went viral once again this past season as the Cowboys made their 3rd straight March Madness appearance.

Now, the fan favorite is making another move, this time to Baton Rouge.

Amir Khan Following Will Wade from McNeese to LSU

Jon Rothstein reported on Monday that Amir Khan would be heading to Baton Rouge with Will Wade to assume the same role as a student manager. In a recent interview with ESPN, Khan confirmed the news.

"Beyond grateful for everything McNeese has done for me, and it will always be home," Khan told ESPN. "I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with my dream coaching staff at my dream school."
