Louisiana Motorists Were Stuck On I-210 Bridge In Lake Charles Last Night For More Than 8 Hours
Yesterday was crazy as freezing weather moved into the area bringing rain, sleet, and cold temperatures which we are not used to into Southwest Louisiana. The mixture of those things is not a great recipe for anything good and as it moved in, conditions started going downhill fast.
Such was the case on the I-210 bridge in South Lake Charles. It all started around 4:30 ish pm yesterday afternoon as several accidents occurred due to ice on the bridges and the weather conditions. One wreck is usually easy to manage but when you have multiple wrecks on the bridge along with ice on the bridge, It makes it a real challenge for law enforcement to clear the accidents.
Because of that challenge, we recieved reports that some folks were stuck on the I-210 bridge for over eight hours yesterday evening. We know a motorist who told us firsthand that he got stopped at 4:45 p.m. yesterday and didn't get off the bridge until 12:15 a.m. this morning. That is almost eight hours folks.
There were many people like that stuck. We asked motorists on our Facebook page how long they had been stuck in traffic and where they were located. Here is what motorists told us.
As you can see from the Facebook posts, people were not happy with what they said was a lack of preparedness from officials. For any comments or concerns, contact the agency you wish to file a grievance with directly. Stay safe out there.
