LSU Women’s Basketball Star Angel Reese Makes Decision On Future
The defending National Champion LSU Lady Tigers wrapped up their season this past Monday night in a loss to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Coach Kim Mulkey and the Lady Tiger faithful have been patiently awaiting the decision from superstar Angel Reese on her future, it appears that the verdict is in.
Since transferring from Maryland to LSU in 2022, the 6-foot-3 Reese has dominated women's college basketball. After averaging 23 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game in her first season in Baton Rouge, the forward won a national championship, was chosen a first-team All-American, and was voted the 2023 NCAA tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Reese averaged 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game for the Tigers during the previous season, when he recorded 20 double-doubles in 33 games during the regular season. Seven additional double-doubles in the NCAA tournament, including a 17-point, 20-rebound effort in the defeat to Iowa, added to her total.
Since Monday Night, the question has been, will Angel Reese stay at LSU or head to the WNBA? That verdict appears to be in...
Players who plan to enter the draft must declare by April 1 under WNBA regulations. College athletes who make it to the Elite Eight or beyond have 48 hours following their last match to relinquish their NCAA eligibility and submit a draft declaration.
“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” Reese said. “I’ve won a national championship, I’ve gotten Player of the Year, I’ve been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I'm ready.”
On Wednesday Morning, Angel Reese announced via Vogue Magazine that she plans to enter into the WNBA Draft moving forward. Reese was given until Wednesday night to make her future intentions known. Under the COVID-19 waiver, she was able to finish one more season at LSU, but she has decided to take her skills to the WNBA.
