Just last week it was announced by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development that, as part of the I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City, the I-20 eastbound entrance and exit ramps at Airline Drive would be closed approximately four months, with the closure of the westbound lanes at Airline coming very soon.

And now, we get word from the Bossier Parish Police Jury that all drivers should anticipate other delays on Airline Drive due to scheduled signal upgrades at two key intersections.

Of course this will ultimately make travel safer and quicker, but all drivers will feel the pinch of these signal upgrades if they aren't prepared.

Beginning later this morning, Tuesday, May 20, work crews will be busy upgrading the traffic signals at the intersection of Airline Drive and Kingston/Deen Point Roads.

During this time, Bossier Parish deputies will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers are encouraged to plan for delays while the work is underway.

No scheduled start time was announced for this operation but I'm guessing it's safe to assume work should begin between 7:00 am and 10:00 am.

Then tomorrow, Wednesday, May 21, similar traffic control measures will be in place at the intersection of Airline Drive and Swan Lake Road, where deputies will again assist with directing traffic. Again, no scheduled start time was announced.

We do know that the signal upgrade work at each location is expected to take approximately four to six hours to complete.

Motorists are urged to use caution in these areas and consider an alternate route if possible.
