Are They Insane? Survey Says This Is Louisiana’s Favorite Candy

Last year, you might have been just as surprised as me to learn that the Number One selling candy in Louisiana was Hot Tamales.

Apparently it wasn't a joke. Candystore.com was the source that compiled the data and  Hot Tamales were tops followed by Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Blow Pops.

Well, that was 2022. Out with the old and in with the new. Armed with the results of a new survey, candystore.com says this year's Number One Halloween candy in Louisiana is Lemonheads.

Wait, what? Did they quit making Reese's Peanut Butter cups? Is there a world-wide Snickers shortage? How did Lemonheads get to be number one?

Challenging these results, a little research showed that Halloween candy is big business. Really big business. In fact, for 2023, overall Halloween spending is predicted to be over $12.2 Billion. Up 15% over last year.

While not hated as much as Circus Peanuts or Black Licorice, Lemonheads can't represent our entire state can they?  Apparently they do, and it looks like we are the only state touting them as our favorites.  Another mind-altering statistic we found shows that Candy Corn is actually gaining in popularity and is now more popular than Snickers and Butterfinger.

How can that be?  Our country is in bad shape these days. I blame Nick Saban.
