Bossier Sheriff Will Teach Kids To Shoot For Free. Here’s How!

Or, maybe you work an odd shift and just don't have the time to teach them? The Bossier Sheriff's Office is ready to lend a helping hand, and they will do it absolutely free!

Sheriff Julian Whittington has just announced the Bossier Sheriff's Office Summer Shooting Sports Program 2023 and this sounds like something every Bossier Parish kid could get something out of.

It's a shooting program for boys and girls from 10 thru 14 years old and will start at the end of this month with a number of sessions.

Along with a heavy dose of gun safety, the program will include Target BB Gun Rifle, Archery, and a 20-gauge shotgun. A Louisiana Hunter's Education Certification class will also be given during this program.

Each course is three days long, running from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm each day.

You can select from an extensive number dates for your youth to take the course including:

• May 30-June 1
• June 6-8
• June 13-15
• June 20-22
• June 27-29
• July 5-7
• July 11-13
• July 18-20
• July 25-27

Course Itinerary:
Day 1- Registration, La. Hunters Ed., BB Gun Target Shooting
Day 2- La. Hunters Ed., Intro to Archery/Archery Range
Day 3 - La. Hunters Ed. and Test, Intro to Shotgun/Shotgun Range

Each of the courses will be conducted at the Bossier Sheriff's Office Shooting Sports Range in Plain Dealing.  Students will be provided lunch by the Bossier Sheriff's Office.

Please note that camps will be limited to 15 students per session. Transportation will be provided by the Bossier Sheriff's Office departing from and returning to the Viking Drive Sub Station in Bossier City.

Again, the courses are absolutely FREE, but are only available to Bossier Parish students.
