Full Nighttime Closures of I-20 West in Bossier This Week

Nighttime traffic in Bossier City is about to get even more complicated this week due to the reconstruction of I-20.

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's website, the reconstruction project is about 47% complete and they feel this entire project should be completed by the end of 2025.

However, motorists still have many more issues to navigate until the project reaches its end.  One of those will actually begin tonight.

In a notice from the LADOTD, the I-20 major rehabilitation project in Bossier City is preparing to enter the initial transition into Phase 3 for the westbound direction.

Beginning tonight, Monday, November 11, there will be full nightly closures of I-20 westbound from I-220 to the Airline Drive interchange. All of the ramps at Airline Drive will not be impacted and will remain open to traffic.

These nightly closures will take place over the course of five nights from approximately 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, in order to allow the contractor to safely perform work in preparation to move the concrete barriers that separate the lanes.

All westbound traffic will be diverted to I-220 during these nightly closures.

Then, this Saturday, November 16, traffic will be shifted to the new travel lanes on I-20 westbound from I-220 to Airline Drive. The remainder of the shift from Airline Drive to Hamilton Road will occur in the coming weeks.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
