One thing is for sure here in Northwest Louisiana. The DOTD has not let a single day go by this summer without some type of construction or repair work!

And while those repairs do cause their own form of traffic delays, it's honestly a breath of fresh air to finally see some attention paid to the roads here in our neck of the woods.

That said, drivers should start preparing for possible delays on I-220 this week.

In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that this Wednesday, August 27, at approximately 7:00 am, the I-220 eastbound ramp to I-49 northbound in Shreveport, will be reduced to one lane.

This lane closure is scheduled be in place until Thursday, August 28, at 12:00 pm, and is necessary to allow DOTD crews to perform repairs to the bridge joints.

The ramp itself will remain open while this work is underway, though motorists should be prepared for possible delays, particularly during peak travel times.

This work will be performed "weather permitting", so any inclement weather could postpone, extend or cause other alterations to the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
