Shreveport Traffic Alert: N. Market Lane Closure Wednesday
Drivers who normally travel north on North Market in the Shreveport area will probably want to make some alternate plans for tomorrow's drive.

In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development we learn that tomorrow, Wednesday, May 21, motorists are being advised that the northbound outside (right) lane of US 71 (N. Market Street) north of I-220 in Shreveport will be closed.
The notice goes on to say that this closure is needed to allow SWEPCO to replace electrical components on an existing utility pole and is scheduled to be in place from approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The area affected is approximately 1.2 miles north of the intersection with LA 3094 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive).
Of course, as with all DOTD projects of this nature, the work will be done "weather permitting" so even though inclement weather is unlikely during this period, should it occur, the scheduled work day/hours could be delayed, extended or altered.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
